Limestone
Limestone is a soft sedimentary stone primarily made of calcium carbonate. It forms when shells, coral, and other marine debris accumulate and compress over millions of years. Limestone is usually recognisable by the presence of small fossils and comes in a variety of neutral colours, including cream, beige, gold, grey, blue, and even black. Limestone is a soft stone that's tough enough to resist most chipping, scratching and cracking. It's also hard to damage with cold or heat making it ideal for making fireplaces. It’s the most common stone found around the Mediterranean basin.
