Marble
Marble is a relatively soft metamorphic stone primarily made of calcite carbonate. It’s formed when limestone or dolomite is subjected to intense heat and pressure over thousands of years. Marble is usually recognisable by the presence of distinct veining and comes in a variety of colours, including white, but can also be black, yellowish-brown, blue-gray, green, red, brown and even pink. Marble is a soft stone, but is tough enough to resist most chipping, scratching, and cracking, making it ideal for making fire surrounds.
