Timber
Wood is a highly sustainable natural material that's been used to make fireplaces for hundreds of years. It can be divided into hardwood and softwood. Hardwoods comes from slow-growing broad-leaved trees that shed their leaves annually. Some common examples of hardwoods include oak, ash, beech, cherry, elm, walnut, and mahogany. Softwoods come from fast growing coniferous tress, like firs and pines, that don't shed their leaves. Both types of wood are ideal for making fireplaces and can be finished to show the natural graining and colour of the timber or hand painted in any colour.

Everything we make is handmade to order by our team of expert Joiners using carefully selected natural wood. We offer a comprehensive range of standard fireplaces in timber, including traditional and contemporary designs, which can be made in a choice of wood, including Oak, Walnut, Pine and Maple or with a hand-painted finish. Classic Mantels also offer a full custom service offering bespoke fire surrounds in a choice of the finest timber, marble and limestone.
